A man with a toothache got upset with how long it was taking him to be seen at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center Monday night, so he allegedly took the matter into his own hands.

According to a police report from the LaGrange Police Department, the man went to the nurses’ station and asked to be seen immediately, but nurses asked him to sit back down. The man, 36, then allegedly punched one of the nurses with a partially closed fist in the right cheek.  The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m.

Another patient, standing nearby, grabbed the man and held him until security arrived, according to the police report.

When officers with the LaGrange Police Department arrived, they arrested the man and charged him with battery. According to the police report, the man told police he was upset with how long it was taking him to get medicine for his tooth so he hit the nurse in the face.

According to another police report, a person with the same name was asked to leave the Hot Spot at around 6 p.m. that afternoon because he was allegedly talking loud and cursing.

In that report, the man told police he was a mental health patient and suffered from schizophrenia. He said he was out of his medicine and could not see his provider until Sept. 1 when he gets his check.

AMR responded to the location to check the man mental state and asked that he go to WellStar West Georgia, but he refused to do.

Weedeater stolen from truck at Walmart

Video from the Walmart parking lot shows a man get out of his truck, grab a weedeater and a chop saw out of a truck, and then take off.

The driver of a 2015 Chevy Silverado filed a police report after noticing both items were missing from his truck when he walked out the store. Walmart pulled video from the parking lot from 3:10 p.m., when the incident occurred.

The items are valued at $369.

Dog locked in vehicle

The LaGrange Police Department received a call at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in reference to a dog locked inside a truck in the parking lot of WellStar.

The truck’s windows were slightly cracked for the dog and an electric fan was blowing hot air, according to the report. Officers determined it 96 degrees inside the vehicle and the dog howled and acted in distress.

Officers tracked down the owner of the vehicle, who was unaware how long she had been in the hospital with a family member. She was given a citation for animal cruelty.

The officers took the dog to a veterinarian, and the dog was checked for animal cruelty. Its temperature was normal. The dog was transported to the animal shelter and placed in a pen with food and water. The owner of the dog was able to pick up the dog from the shelter at that point.
