Man arrested, charged with aggravated assault, battery

Danmarquez Griggs was arrested for aggravated assault and aggravated battery Wednesday after allegedly shooting someone on the 1200 block of E. 12th Street in West Point.

Griggs shot the victim Tuesday around 3:13 p.m, according a news release from the West Point Police Department. Griggs turned himself in to law enforcement Wednesday at 3:12 p.m. The victim received a non-life threatening injury and is currently in stable condition, according to the press release.

Man arrested for warrant and drug possession 

Jeffery Charles Hunt, 33, was arrested for an active warrant and violating the Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act for methamphetamine possession Wednesday at the Jr. Food Mart on Whitesville Street at 2:33 a.m. According to the police report, Hunt had a warrant out for failure to appear from the Troup County Superior Court.

When searching Hunt, police found what appeared to be methamphetamine in his front pant pocket. According to the report, Hunt is out on a conditional bond “Violation of Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act” with a fourth amendment waiver attached.

Lawn equipment stolen from man’s trailer

More than $1,500 worth of lawn equipment was stolen from a man’s trailer while he was at Walmart on New Franklin Road Tuesday between 4:10 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. The man’s two RedMax EBZ8500 backpack blowers were valued at $580 each and his Echo head trimmer was valued $400.

According to the police report, an officer checked Walmart’s security cameras and found video of a person taking the items from the trailer and putting it in their blue Ford Taurus and driving off at 4:18 p.m.

Cars egged on Baldwin Street

Two cars were allegedly egged at the 1100 block of Baldwin Street Tuesday. A man told police that he left his apartment at noon to go to a friend’s house, and when he got out of his silver Chevrolet Impala, he noticed the rear passenger door covered in egg.
