Mavis L. Porter

Mrs. Mavis L. Porter, 81, of LaGrange passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Emory Midtown Hospital.

Mrs. Porter was born June 4, 1936, in Roanoke, Alabama the daughter of the late J. D. & Lara Earline Clark Kirby.  Mavis was a member of East Vernon Baptist Church and her employment was with many businesses’ here in town including the Troup County Tax Commissioner’s office, Restlawn Memory Gardens and LaGrange  Tire.  She was pre-deceased by her Husband, Mr. James S (Jim) Porter, Children, Ethel Earline Cowan, Glenda Louise Tarwater, and James M. Shepard.

Survivors include: Daughter; Sally Irene Spradlin, and a number of Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the chapel of the Hunter-Allen-Myhand

Funeral Home with the Reverend Bernie Pasley officiating. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Mausoleum.  The Family will receive friends on Friday from 1  until 2 p.m.
