Commission approves airport repairs

On Thursday, the Troup County Board of Commissioners approved a contract for emergency repairs at LaGrange-Callaway Airport.

Damage occurred in one of the hangers in July, and ServiceMaster of LaGrange has been approved to make the repairs which will be primarily covered by insurance. The county will only cover $2,500 of the repairs from the airport’s enterprise fund.

“A hanger at the LaGrange-Callaway Airport received extensive damage from a weather incident on July 15, 2017,” Division Director Dexter Wells said.

The county has already received a quote for the work and a check from the insurance company, so commission approval was the final step necessary to move forward with the repairs.

“I have the quote that was submitted by ServiceMaster to the adjuster for the insurance company, and then I have the e-mail where they accepted that,” said Diana Evans, manager of Troup County purchasing agent. “As a matter of fact, the day they notified me that they were paying us, I got a check in the mail (for the county).”

It is unusual for the commission to vote during work sessions, however they agreed to approve the repairs on Thursday in order to keep the project moving.

The Troup County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet on Tuesday at 9 a.m. at 100 Ridley Ave.
