From Staff Reports

Some of the most exciting and memorable events put on by 4-H each year are overnight summer camps. Each camp is held at one of five 4-H centers throughout Georgia, and go from Monday through Friday. This year, Troup County 4-H had students attend Cloverleaf Camp, Marine Resources Camp, Wilderness Challenge Camp and Junior Camp.

There were group dinner cookouts and a day of water games with a giant slip and slide. Wilderness Challenge Camp included classes specific for outdoor survival and involved a trip to Copperhill, TN for a zip-line canopy tour and whitewater rafting down the Ocoee River.

Marine Resources Camp provided swimming in the ocean, shark dissection, a marsh crawl, shopping on Tybee, a talent show and swimming.  For the 2018 summer camping season, Troup County will attend Cloverleaf Camp at Burton 4-H center near Savannah beginning June 25. Marine Resources Camp will be offered again beginning July 16, Wilderness Challenge Camp will be offered starting July 2, Junior Camp will be offered at Fortson 4-H Center in Hampton beginning July 2 and Senior Camp (high school students) will be at Rock Eagle 4-H Center near Eatonton beginning May 28.
