Man shot and killed at North Cary Street apartment

A LaGrange man died after being shot in the torso at his North Cary Street apartment Sunday around 4:45 a.m., according to a press release from the LaGrange Police Department.

Police were originally called to 64 North Cary Street for an unknown problem and found Jimmie Griffith unresponsive from a single gunshot, according to the press release.

The press release said Griffith and Lillian Addison, his girlfriend, were arguing when it became physical and one of them brought out a handgun. The gun went off during an ensuing struggle and Griffith was shot. Griffith was given emergency medical aid at the scene, and he was taken to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The department has not made an arrest and the investigation is active, Lt. Dale Strickland said.
