Finding a way to help Harvey victims

Over the last week, we’ve written several stories about all of the groups from Troup County that have sent supplies to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

There are so many other groups that have helped that it’s impossible to name them all.

Jackson Heating and Air delivered a second truck of supplies to Beaumont, Texas on Monday. The supplies included water and other personal hygiene items.

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is collecting bottled water through Sept. 14. Faith Baptist Church is accepting donations for cleanup efforts through Sept. 16.

Children from LaGrange First United Methodist Church gave up one of their favorite toys and wrote a letter to children in LaGrange, Texas.

Many others simply just gave a donation.

All of this giving again proves how generous this community is. Many were willing to stop everything to try to find a way to help the people in Houston, Port Arthur and other hard hit areas in Texas.

That’s the sign of a great community.

Of course, it’s not time to stop and pat ourselves on the back. The people of Texas still need as much help as they can get. If there’s anything you can donate, whether it be clothing, food or water, there’s still many that need the help.

Knowing the people in this community, there’s still a lot more help to come.
