Phyllis Sherrell Fincher West

Phyllis Sherrell Fincher West of LaGrange died Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, after a brief illness.

Ms. West, a lifelong resident of LaGrange, was the daughter of the late Larkin Fincher and Inez Shellnutt Fincher.

A member of the LaGrange High School Class of 1959, Sherrell enjoyed helping families find their home with Daniel Realty for over 20 years.  She went on to work for the Department of Labor, helping others find their career, retiring in 2003.  Sherrell then went to work with Corley Drugs and CVS enjoying several years working with the public.

Survivors include three daughters, Randi West Atkins and her husband, Ed, of Burlington, N.C., Kim West Shepard and her husband, Randy, of LaGrange and Traci West Spears of LaGrange;  granddaughters Rebecca Caleigh Burnette of LaGrange, and Mallory Atkins of Washington, N.C. and Allison Atkins of Burlington, N.C.; grandsons, Brett Headley and his wife, Candace, of Acworth, Westlee Grizzard and his wife, Susan, of Opelika, Brandon Headley of Woodstock, Matthew Lee Spears of Tallahassee, and Daniel Atkins of Charlotte, N.C.; one great grandson, Wyatt Grizzard, of Opelika; two brothers, Charles Fincher of Lynn Haven, FL and Donald Fincher of LaGrange; one brother-in-law, Sanders Griffith III and his wife, Deena, of Columbus.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, with the Rev. Wayne Hester officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, Sept. 7,  2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Troup County Ants (Special Olympics).

The family will be at the home of Randy and Kim Shepard.
