HOGANSVILLE – On the heels of their blowout win over Handley, the Callaway Cavaliers remain second in this week’s Associated Press Class AA poll.

Callaway moved up to second in last week’s poll, and it stayed there following the 35-0 victory over Handley.

Benedictine, which beat Callaway in the Class AA semifinals last year on the way to a state championship, received all of the first-place votes and holds down the top spot.

Hapeville Charter is third in Class AA, Screven County is fourth, and Rabun County is fifth.

Jefferson County, Fitzgerald, Thomasville, Brooks County and Dodge County round out the top 10.

In Class AAAA, Cartersville received all 15 first-place votes to lead the way, and Thomson, Woodward Academy, Sandy Creek and Jefferson round out the top five.

Cartersville, which has won back-to-back state championships, and Sandy Creek both play in Region 5-AAAA with LaGrange and Troup.

In the state’s largest classification, Class AAAAAAA, Grayson is ranked first, Lee County is first in Class AAAAAA, Rome narrowly leads Buford for the top spot in Class AAAAA, Greater Atlanta Christian is first in Class AAA, and Eagle’s Landing is tops in Class A.
