LAGRANGE – It was a happy senior night for the Troup Lady Tigers.

Troup’s softball team rolled to a 13-0 victory over Sandy Creek on Friday in a Region 5-AAAA game.

Troup improved to 4-2 in the region heading into today’s key home doubleheader against Cartersville, with the first game set to begin at noon.

In Friday’s game, Troup scored all 13 of its runs in the first two innings, and the game ended because of the run rule after Sandy Creek failed to score in the top of the fourth.

After pitcher Makenzie Miller set Sandy Creek down in the top of the first, Troup went to work in the bottom of the inning.

Kayla Lane led off with a double, and Maddie Weathers followed two batters later with an RBI single.

Madison McCartney’s triple brought in two more runs, and Miller capped the rally with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the second, Maddie Livingston and Abby Taylor reached on singles, and Weathers followed with a two-run triple, giving Troup a 7-0 lead.

It was Weathers’ 12th straight hit, and that included a 5-for-5 perofrmance in the previous game against Brookstone.RBI singles by McCartney, Miller and Olivia McInvale pushed the lead to 10-0, and Taylor had a bases-loaded triple to bring in three more runs.

Miller threw the four-inning shutout for Troup.
