A two-year-old boy drowned Sunday morning after falling into a pool at a house on the 3100 block of West Point Road.

Sgt. Stewart Smith with the Troup County Sherriff’s Office said the boy, Judson Thompson, walked away from his parents, who were unable to locate him for several minutes.

According to Smith, the parents were in their house during the time Judson walked away.

Judson’s parents said he may have been in the water between five to ten minutes, according to Smith. The child’s father took his son immediately out of the pool and gave him CPR as they waited for the LaGrange Fire Department and EMS to arrive, Smith said.

Judson was taken to West Georgia Medical Center and was pronounced dead shortly there, Smith said.

According to Smith, the pool was next door to the family’s property.

The case is still under investigation. At this point, investigators believe it is a tragic accident.
