LAGRANGE – A pair of first-half goals powered the LaGrange Academy boys’ soccer team to a 2-1 home win over Academe of the Oaks on Tuesday.

Mason Brown scored the Warriors’ first goal, and Alex Wilson converted a penalty kick later in the half to make it a 2-0 game.

Academe of the Oaks scored in the second half, but it was unable to produce the equalizing goal.

“We had moments today,” LaGrange Academy coach Zak Knight said. “It got a little sloppy, but we hung in there. They beat us last year.”

It was the second straight victory for LaGrange Academy, which got a 7-1 road win over the Howard School on Monday.

“We’re starting to pick it up,” Wilson said. “We’re starting to pass nicely.”

SOFTBALL: LaGrange Academy rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it was Terrell Academy hanging on for a 2-1 victory.

LaGrange Academy won at Terrell Academy earlier this season.

“The difference in the two games, when we were down there, they made errors,” LaGrange Academy coach Charles Parker said. “Today, they did not make one error. We put the ball in play. We hit it right to ‘em.”

Sydney Anderson had an RBI hit in the bottom of the seventh for LaGrange Academy.

Amber Corley and Reagan Terry combined to get it done on the mound.

Corley threw the first five innings, and Terry pitched the final two innings.

Both of Terrell Academy’s runs were unearned.
