The Valley, Alabama Police Department is investigating a shooting on the 4300 block of County Road 388 in Valley, according to Major Mike Reynolds.

Reynolds said in a press release that officers responded to the scene at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and found a 54-year-old female lying in the driveway, dead of an apparent gunshot wound. The shooter was still on scene and has been detained, Reynolds said.

The victim’s name will not be released until her family members have been notified, Reynolds said.

More details will be released as the investigation continues.
