It’s decision time for the Troup Lady Tigers.

Troup, after finishing fifth in Region 5-AAAA during the regular season, will be on the road against fourth-seeded Cartersville today as the region softball tournament gets started.

They’ll play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m., and if needed, a third and deciding game in the best-of-three series would be on Monday.

The winner of the series will qualify for the state tournament, while the loser will see its season come to a close.

LaGrange will be at home for a series in the Region 5-AAAA tournament.

LaGrange, which finished third in the region, will host sixth-seeded Cedartown on Monday, and they’ll play a doubleheader at 5 p.m., with the if game scheduled for Tuesday.

The region’s top two teams, Central-Carroll and Chapel Hill, will play next week for the region championship.

Cartersville won both of the regular-season meetings against Troup.

They played a doubleheader at Troup on Sept. 9, with Cartersville winning the opening game 4-2 before completing the sweep with a 7-0 victory.

Troup (9-13 overall) finished with a 4-8 region record, while Cartersville (8-14 overall) went 5-7 in region play.

LaGrange beat Cedartown twice in the regular season.

After winning the first game 3-0, LaGrange rallied from a four-run deficit to win 8-4 at Cedartown.

LaGrange (16-9 overall) finished 8-4 in the region, while Cedartown (8-14) went 4-8.
