Mr. Rufus Gentry Burdette, age 77, of Pine Mountain, passed away on September 30, 2017, at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. 

Mr. Burdette was born on Jan. 12, 1940, in LaGrange to the late Ruby Daniel Burdette and Liza LeVenia Adcock Burdette.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was still actively working for the Troup County School System.  He was a member of the Rosemont Baptist Church. Gentry loved life and lived it to the fullest. He never met a stranger and loved his family more than anything. Survivors include his wife, Linda Bowen Koone Burdette; children, Sandra Griffin of Conyers, Mike Burdette (Vicky) of Conyers, Danny Burdette of Conyers and Pam Orvino (Frank) of Powder Springs; brother, Eston Burdett (June) of LaGrange; sister, Daphney Knight (Denny) of Lanett, Alabama; grandchildren, Chad Burdette, Holli McEwen (Mike), Joey Griffin (Whitney), April Lockman (Tyler), Morgan Heffernan (Johnny),  Nicholas Orvino and Daegan Burdette; great grandchildren, Austin, Caroline, Chelsea, Eli, Carter, Harrison, and one on the way.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Rosemont Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Camp and the Rev. Max McCord officiating. 

Interment to follow at the Meadoway Gardens.  Family will receive friends on Monday evening at the funeral home from 5 to 8 pm.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Rosemont Baptist Church Mission Fund in memory of Mr. Burdette.
