LaGrange resident Ashley Shephard, 21, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault by the LaGrange Police Department Monday. According to the LPD press release, Shephard allegedly tried to run over the father of her two-month-old child with her Honda Accord.

Detective Brian Brown said the two-month-old was in the back of the car when the victim was hit.

After officers spoke with Shephard and the victim, they processed the scene and determined she attempted to hit the victim with her car, according to the press release.

The victim told police that he and Shephard were having an argument about a text he had on his phone and that he left his house and started walking down the street, according to the LPD police report.

He said she followed him in her Honda Accord, and when he crossed into a neighbor’s yard she drove the car into the yard after him.

He told police he had to jump on the hood of the car to keep from getting run over, according to the police report.

After talking with Shephard about what happened, police ran her name through the Georgia Crime Information Center and found that she had an outstanding warrant for criminal attempt to commit a felony from the West Point Police Department.

The police report said Shephard confessed to attempting to run over the victim.
