Sales, drama and vegetables make for a full weekend

This weekend will feature some great deals, a bit of drama and plenty of fresh produce as Troup County enjoys a few more warm days before the temperatures begin to cool.

The Junior Service League will get the weekend off to a strong start with its highly anticipated, 43rd annual Attic Sale. The event will fill West Georgia Technical College’s Callaway Auditorium with a wide array of interesting objects ranging from second hand items to crafty home décor.

The pre-sale will begin tonight at 6 p.m. Admission for the pre-sale is $5, and the items will be the price and a half for the pre-sale. Early admission will also be available on Saturday at 8 a.m. for $5. Regular admission will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and will cost $1.

The Friends of the Library will also host their First Saturday Book Shop at LaGrange Memorial Library from 2 to 5 p.m.

Drama to fill weekend

LaGrange College will host a performance of Little Women the Musical at Price Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The musical adaptation of the classic novel will follow the March sisters through a journey of heartbreak, hope and self-discovery. For homeschoolers seeking something fun and a bit dramatic, LaGrange Piano will host a Drama Club kick-off at 1691 Vernon Road from 10 a.m. to noon. The group will focus on homeschool students, but students who are not homeschooled may join at the discretion of the club director. Registration for the semester is $80, and the first show of the year is scheduled for Dec. 14 and 15 at West Side stage at LaGrange College.

Pure Life Studios will host an Atlanta based comedy group known as the Flying Giants at 7:30 p.m. The group plans to perform a standup, sketch comedy and improv show called Busting Out that is sure to entertain.

The show is recommended for adults since the comedy may be mature in content. Tickets are $17 and can be purchased at Purelifelagrange.com.

Fresh produce available at farmer’s markets

The West Georgia Farmer’s Cooperative will host a farmer’s market at Union Street Park located at 100 Union Street at 9 a.m. The market is set to include a variety of produce grown by local farmers. Representatives from Wholesome Wave should be on site to assist with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, benefit renewal and Medicaid issues.

Sims Pond will also sell a variety of produce at its regular Farm Day Market. The market is set to feature local vendors like Shady Gardens Nursery, Green Acres Poultry Farm, Backwoods BBQ Sauce and many more. It is scheduled to take place starting at 11 a.m. at 10 Bailey Road.
