Cougars win wild offensive shootout

LAGRANGE – The Lafayette Christian School Cougars put 88 points on the scoreboard Friday night, and they needed almost all of them to get their first win of the season.

In a wild, back-and-forth shootout with a final score that would be more at home in a basketball gym, Lafayette Christian out-lasted Praise Academy 88-74.

Quarterback Landon Whitley, who has had a sensational junior season, carried the ball 32 times for 200 yards, and he scored five touchdowns.

Amani Jenkins added 151 yards on 21 carries with a pair of touchdowns, and Jacob Lueken had 124 yards on 18 attempts with one touchdown.

Whitley also completed 2-of-3 passes for 52 yards.
