LaGrange High’s volleyball pulled off a big win over the rival Troup Lady Tigers on Wednesday to earn a spot in next week’s state tournament.

LaGrange and Troup both lost their first matches in the Area 5-AAA tournament on Wednesday at Chapel Hill.

Those losses set up a showdown between LaGrange and Troup with the season on the line.

While the winner would stay alive in the tournament, the loser would see its season come to an end.

LaGrange went on to beat Sandy Creek later on Wednesday to gain a spot in the area semifinals while also securing an invitation to the state tournament.

LaGrange returned to Chapel Hill on Thursday for the semifinals, and it lost to Chapel Hill in three sets to finish fourth in the area.
