LAGRANGE – It’s rivalry week.

While the LaGrange Grangers and Troup Tigers will mix it up at Callaway Stadium on Friday, the Callaway Cavaliers will make the trip to Franklin to face the Heard County Braves.

Also on Friday, the Lafayette Christian School Cougars will look to build on their first win of the season when they visit Holy Ground Baptist Academy.

Troup, which was off last week, will look to maintain its perfect record when it takes on LaGrange, which is coming off a 56-0 loss to Cartersville.

Troup improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 5-AAAA with a 71-16 win over Sandy Creek on Sept. 29.

LaGrange (0-7 overall) is 0-3 with last week’s loss to Cartersville, which ran its winning streak to 37.

If Troup wins its next three games, it will take an unbeaten record into the showdown with Cartersville on the final night of the regular season.

Callaway and Heard County are the front-runners in Region 5-AA, and they’ll meet on Friday in a highly-anticipated matchup.

The Cavaliers (6-0 overall) are 2-0 in the region, while the Braves (5-1) have won their only region game.

Callaway remained unbeaten with last week’s 48-7 win over Lamar County, while Heard County hasn’t played since beating Temple 35-14 on Sept. 22.

Lafayette Christian (1-6) got on the board with last week’s wild 88-74 home victory over Praise Academy.

Lafayette Christian’s final two games of the regular season are on the road, beginning with Friday’s game at Holy Ground in Roopville.
