ROOPVILLE – Facing one of the top teams in the state, the Lafayette Christian School Cougars fell to Holy Ground Baptist Academy 70-20 on Friday night in a Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association eight-man game.

Lafayette Christian (1-7) will be off next week before finishing its season at Twiggs Academy on Oct. 27.

Against Holy Ground, junior quarterback Landon Whitley continued to excel.

Whitley not only had a scoring run, but he also caught a touchdown pass from Mitch Crandall.

Jacob Lueken had the Cougars’ other touchdown on a running play.

“We made them play for the entirety of the game,” Lafayette Christian head coach Nate Shaw said. “They’re just really skilled, really experienced. Tip of the hat to them. But our young guys really stepped up. We did some really good things. There’s a lot of things on film we can look at.”
