Two men were arrested last week for their involvement in multiple thefts during October.

Blake Swigonski, 22, and Trevor Everington, 22, were arrested by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office after it was determined they were involved in multiple thefts, burglaries and entering autos on the Fling Road Area.

According to Sgt. Stewart Smith, the crimes started occurring around Oct. 1.

Smith said investigators recovered a video that showed one of the men wearing a stolen West Point Police Department ballistic vest, which was taken in an entering auto case. 

The other fired a gun into the vest that was being worn.

“Fortunately, no injuries were sustained in this careless act,” Smith said.

Smith said the TCSO believes the two were working together to commit the crimes.   

Numerous stolen items were recovered and returned to their owners, according to the news release.

Swigonski is charged with three counts of receiving stolen property and burglary and was arrested Oct. 11. 

Everington was charged with theft by stolen property and four counts of entering autos and was arrested Oct. 12.
