LAGRANGE – It’s homecoming week for the Troup Tigers.

Troup, after dropping it first game of the season last week against Cedartown, will host Central-Carroll on Friday.

Also on Friday, LaGrange will finish its season with a game at Chapel Hill, Callaway will be in Columbus to face Spencer, and Lafayette Christian plays its last game at Twiggs Academy.

Troup, for the first time this season, is looking to bounce back following a loss.

In a back-and-forth game, it was Troup falling to Cedartown 21-18 in a Region 5-AAAA contest.

The loss leaves Troup (7-1 overall) at 3-1 in the region, and it is tied for second place with Cedartown, while Cartersville leads the way in the region at 5-0.

Central-Carroll is 1-3 in the region, and it has to beat Troup to stay in contention for one of the region’s four playoff spots.

Troup finishes the regular season with a home game against Cartersville on Nov. 3.

If Troup beats Central-Carroll, it will finish no lower than third in the region.

Callaway (7-1 overall) will put its 2-1 Region 5-AA record on the line when it visits Spencer on Friday.

If Callaway wins, it will finish no lower than second in the region, meaning it will be at home for the first round of the state playoffs.

Callaway finishes the regular season with a home game against Jordan on Nov. 2.

Heard County, which beat Callaway 35-28, can wrap up the region championship with a win at Lamar County on Friday.

LaGrange has one final opportunity to avoid a winless season.

LaGrange, which fell to 0-9 with last week’s 41-0 loss to Sandy Creek, will be at Chapel Hill on Friday.

Chapel Hill can secure one of the region’s four playoff spots if it beats LaGrange.

Lafayette Christian (1-7), which was off last week, will conclude its season at Twiggs Academy on Friday.
