Shooting in Lanett leaves two dead, seven hurt

LANETT — A shootout Sunday at a Lanett nightclub has left two people dead and seven others wounded.

According to a statement released Monday by Lanett Police Chief Angie Spates, officers responded to Club Addiction on 16th Street SW in reference to shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located one subject with an apparent gunshot wound, who was transported to EAMC-Lanier and later pronounced dead.

Spates said a second round of shots were fired outside the club and another victim, found inside a car, was transported to EAMC-Lanier and later died as well.

At least seven other people were shot in the gunfire and were treated for injuries before being released.

Spates added that the investigation is ongoing, and the names of the victims are being withheld pending notifications.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families,” said Spates. “We would also like to thank all the responding agencies for their assistance.”
