Eloise Grizzell Womble

Mrs.  Eloise Grizzell Womble died peacefully in West Georgia Hospice on Oct. 29, 2017, in LaGrange, Georgia at the age of 95.

Eloise is survived by her children Hubert C. (Pete) Grizzell, Jr. of Golden, Colorado, James Richard (Dick) Grizzell (Inger) of Westminster, Colorado, John Henry Grizzell (Julia) of LaGrange, Georgia; sibling, Mrs. Norma Brown of Jacksons Gap, Alabama, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Hubert C. Grizzell, daughters: Norma Susan Neal of Dayton Ohio, Carole Jean Grizzell of Camden, SC, three sisters and three brothers.

Eloise was born on Aug. 31, 1922, in Quitman, GA to Sam J. Fann and Virgie Renfroe Fann. After moving to LaGrange in 1965, Eloise began working as bookkeeper for LaGrange Hardware. From 1966 until 1983 Eloise and Hubert owned and operated restaurants in LaGrange. She worked for many years at Loy’s Office Supplies after the death of Hubert, Sr.. She was an active and dedicated member of the First Baptist Church, Pilot Club, Women’s Club, Women of the Moose Club, Alabama Wild Moose Camping Association, and the Dixie Roadrunners Camping Club.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 1, 2017, at Striffler Hamby Mortuary. A grave side service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday Nov. 2, 2017, at Shadowlawn Cemetery. The Rev. Cade Farris will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Eloise’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to West Georgia Hospice, First Baptist Church on the Square, or the Parkinson’s Foundation. The family would like to thank the staffs of Vernon Woods and West Georgia Hospice for all the care, kindness and love they gave to Eloise.
