Winter sports registration ending

Registration for winter sports through Troup County Parks and Recreation ends on Friday, and there is plenty of fun to be had for local children in the next few months. Some of the highlights of this year include:

Dance classes

• Petite ballet 11 and up from Oct. 23 through Nov. 30 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center.

• Petite Ballet 2 to 10-year-olds from Nov. 1 through 29 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center.

Golf

• Birdie Level Wednesdays for any child that has passed PAR Level for Nov. 15 through Jan. 24 from 5 to 6 p.m. at The First Tee.

• PAR Level Mondays for any child who has taken The First Tee classes in the past and passed the PLAYer Level from Nov. 13 through 22 on Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m. at First Tee.

• PAR Level Thursdays from Nov. 16 through Jan. 25 on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. at The First Tee.

• PLAYer Level Girls for any child who has never taken The First Tee classes from Nov. 16 to Jan. 25 on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. at The First Tee.

• PLAYer Level Mondays for any child that has never taken The First Tee classes from Nov. 13 to Jan. 22 on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. at The First Tee.

• Target Level for any child that wants to start the The First Tee but is under 8-years-old from Nov. 16 through Jan. 25 on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. at The First Tee.

Tennis

• Hot Shots Tennis Winter for beginner level players from Feb. 2 to March 9 from 5 to 5:45 p.m.

• Junior Beginner Tennis Winter from Jan. 23 to Feb. 15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m.

Martial arts

• Kenpo Karate Adult Class from Nov. 2 to Nov. 30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 7:45 p.m. at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center.

• Kenpo Karate Kids Class from Nov. 2 to Nov. 30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center.
