Extra tables will be set up to hold all the children’s books at the semiannual mega book sale this weekend at LaGrange Memorial Library.

Donations of children’s books have exceeded previous levels, said organizers with Friends of the Library.

Most children’s items are priced at 10 cents to 50 cents.

The popular bag sale returns, with customers being able to buy a large paper grocery bag for $5 and fill it with as much as they like. A new feature will be “3 at 3,’’ a $3 bag sale starting at 3 p.m. Saturday.

For those who want to purchase books individually, hardbacks are $1, and trade paperbacks are 50 cents, while mass-market paperbacks are five for $1.

A large selection of fiction (including some large-print editions) is on hand, organizers said, along with nonfiction books on cooking, history, religion, autobiography, philosophy, travel and other topics. DVDs, CDs and other media items will be available as well.

The sale runs from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Fackler Room at the library at 115 Alford St. The Friends of the Library bookshop also will be open.

Proceeds from the sales help support library programs, such as the summer reading program for children, author talks throughout the year and staff appreciation day. Memberships start at $15 a year, and forms are available at the sale.

In addition, the bookshop is open from 2 to 5 p.m. each Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of each month.

Donations of used books in good condition are accepted throughout the year and may be placed in the large red tub in the library lobby.
