Locals had the opportunity to view a wide variety of hand sewn quilts by local women at the 36th annual Quilters’ Bazaar at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church on Saturday.

The annual bazaar raises funds for the church’s various mission projects and organizers were pleased with the turnout.

“The Pleasant Grove Quilters had a very successful bazaar on Saturday,” Carol Cadenhead said. “People came from far and near to shop with many vendors and visit the homemade baked goods table. Early morning visitors enjoyed sausage and biscuits and fried pies. Later on people enjoyed homemade vegetable soup and cornbread and barbecue and stew.  Whole smoked boston butts were available for people to enjoy later.  It was a great day for the homemade crafts and canned goods vendors.  Also, the sanctuary was filled with a variety of homemade quilts of all sizes and patterns for people to enjoy..”

The annual event featured a variety of vendors and freshly cooked barbecue which sold almost as fast as the raffle tickets for one of the handmade quilts.

“We’ve already sold out of some stuff,” said Teresa Cadenhead, a volunteer at the bazaar at noon.

Overall, the group was excited to see the results of months of hard work.

“The Quilters greatly appreciate the support from the church and the many visitors who  made this day possible,” Carol Cadenhead said.
