LaGrange Has Talent, a first year talent show, will hold its finals Thursday night  at 7 p.m. at the Troup High Fine Arts Center.

The contest allows people of all ages to compete and from what we can tell, it’s been a hit. One of the only stipulations was that contestants have to be from Troup County, meaning everyone involved is a local.

One of the best parts of the top is that the acts that have reached the finals include a lot of variety.

From Bentley, Lucy, Lydia and Madelyn’s dance routine, to Tom Gore’s piano playing, to the amazing Jahwill’s magic show, there’s something for everybody.

There are also several individual and group singers.

The voting online for people’s choice won’t end until Wednesday, so there’s still time for people to get in their final votes. That’s also a great way to get a sneak peek at the top 10 before Thursday’s finals.

The contest was started by Stephanie Preston and others with the Magnolia Society United Way Women’s Leadership Council to raise money for early learning programs for school readiness.

Between participants, voters and the society putting on the fundraiser, this has been a great way to bring the community together in a unique way.

It costs $1 per vote, but the proceeds are going to a good cause.

Tickets for Thursday night can be purchased at lagrangehastalent.com/tickets or by calling the United Way at (706) 884-8292. They can also be bought at the door.

The cost for tickets is $15 for adults, $10 for students. Anyone under five can get in for free.

We hope to see a big crowd in attendance to support the performers.
