Entering the holiday season

In Monday’s edition of the LaGrange Daily News, we wrote about the March of Dimes walk which passed through such iconic holiday scenes at Callaway Garden’s Fantasy in Lights as Santa’s Workshop and the March of the Toy Soldiers. Participants undoubtedly had fun despite the cool weather and the wind over Robin Lake, but some people probably could not make it to the event either due to prior commitments or concern over the long awaited cool weather that finally arrived in the area last week.

There will still be plenty of chances to get into the holiday spirit though. Merchants in downtown LaGrange and Hogansville are already planning for special shopping events for locals, and the Christmas Parades for Troup County’s three cities are all swiftly approaching with LaGrange’s Christmas Parade on Nov. 30, the Valley Wide Christmas Parade on Dec. 7 and Hogansville’s Christmas Parade on Dec. 9.

Any local runners who don’t mind the cold will also have one more opportunity to see Fantasy in Lights on foot this year with the Callaway Santa Claus Classic 10K on Dec. 2.

Whether you like to decorate in July or wait patiently until after Thanksgiving, we hope you have a fantastic holiday season this year.
