A Chevrolet Tahoe was stolen at the Lee’s Crossing Apartments complex and burned between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday.

According to the LaGrange Police Department report, officers were going to the complex Sunday at 6:30 p.m. when they were advised that the Troup County Sheriff’s Office recovered the vehicle the night before on Old West Point Road, and that it had been burned. The owner told police she hadn’t allowed anyone to borrow the vehicle and wasn’t behind on payments. She said she had her keys, but there are several other sets to the vehicle.

According to the police report, officers were informed that the TCSO talked to a witness who said they saw a man and a woman running from the vehicle at the time of the fire.

Dog stolen from yard

A Boxer Bulldog was allegedly stolen from the backyard of a house at the 100 block of Commerce Court Saturday between 2:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The dog’s owner told police his dog was chained. According to the police report, an officer noticed the chain was not broken and the hook attached to it was in good condition.

The man told police his dog is brown with a black mask face, has a blue collar and is microchipped.

Gun stolen from truck at Walmart parking lot

A Smith and Wesson .380 was allegedly stolen from a Chevrolet Silverado in the Walmart parking lot Saturday between 3:30 p.m. and 3:55 p.m.

The owner told police when he came back to his vehicle he noticed that his vehicle had been messed with. When he opened the center console of his truck, he discovered his gun was stolen.

According to the police report, the driver’s door lock was popped.

Three arrested for amphetamine possession

Joel Kagley, 34, Shala Martin, 34, and James Lewis, 37, were arrested for alleged amphetamine possession on New Franklin Road Friday after 3:38 p.m.

According to the police report, officers pulled over a vehicle for speeding and asked for the driver’s license. Lewis told the officer he did not have his license and that his name was Justin Tucker. Police tried running the name and nothing came back, according to the police report. Martin told police that she had known the other two men for a long time, and that she knew Lewis as Justin Tucker. Kagley also said he knew Lewis as Justin Tucker.

No records were found for Justin Tucker even after fingerprinting him. After consenting to search his vehicle, police found a clear pipe with white residue believed to be methamphetamine. A set of scales and an insulin syringe with a needle was also discovered in Martin’s purse, according to the police report.

The three were then arrested for possession of methamphetamine. It was later discovered that James Lewis was the driver’s real name.

Two arrested for drug possession, obstruction

Andrew Strozier, 32 and Paulette Howell, 43, were arrested for alleged marijuana and cocaine possession at the 1300 block of Elm Street Saturday after 12:37 a.m.

According to the police report, an officer was patrolling in the area when he heard a vehicle playing music loudly next to him. The music stopped, and when the officer tried to talk to Howell, he argued that he could barely hear it. While talking to Howell, the officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana and noticed it was coming from her vehicle, according to the police report. Strozier tried to push past the officer to avoid being handcuffed, and it took him and another officer to cuff him, according to the police report.

While searching Strozier, officers found a Browning .25 ACP in his pants pocket. Officers found a clear bag containing suspected marijuana on the front passenger side floor and a container with suspected crack cocaine inside.

Both were also charged with obstruction. Strozier was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Church trespassed

A five-gallon jug full of money was stolen from Faith to Faith Baptist Church between Nov. 12 at 12:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1:15 p.m.

A woman told police when she was in the pastor’s office she noticed the church’s refrigerator was open and that a cabinet door where the jug had been was missing. The woman and pastor also noticed a broken window pane open in the basement, according to the police report. Officers noticed that the window must have been broken from the inside and that a back door was left ajar. Officers found the five-gallon jug empty and in a trashcan in the basement’s kitchen. The pastor told police there are a lot of people with keys to the church.

The jug contained $200 or $300.
