Edna Smith Anderson, age 102, winged her way to Heaven’s gate on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Edna was born and reared in Troup County in LaGrange, Georgia. Edna lived most of her life in the Pleasant Grove Community in LaGrange.  However, Edna went down to visit her daughter in October 2011 who lives in The Woodlands, Texas. She was employed by Kroger from 1950 to 1978 when she retired.  If anyone loved their job it was her. If, anyone loved their patrons it was Edna. The last 6 years of her life she spent being somewhat confused.   She would get up in the mornings and want to get dressed to go to work. Days she wasn’t feeling too well, we would tell her it was her day off. Some days she would have customers who came by and bought groceries, and if she thought they were trying to cheat her, that was a sight to see. One time she wanted to go grocery shopping, so one of the ladies went to the fridge and took out everything that Edna said she wanted at the store and placed it on a bar to show her she didn’t need to go to Kroger right then.

There are so many stories to tell. She did this for about five years.   This year was not a good year for her and there was little or no play “grocery store” at all.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Anderson. Her mother and father, Charlie Smith and Idolyne Bailey Smith, her brother, Ellis Neal Smith, infant brother, Crawford Smith. Deceased daughter Mossoleen (Mossy) Anderson Caldwell.

Edna leaves to grieve her loss to her daughter Florence (Flo) Anderson Zwigart (Tony) granddaughter Mitzi Holbein (Bryan) Leach of The Woodlands, Texas, granddaughter Lori Holbein Gutierrez (Joey) of Spring, Texas, great grandchildren Taylor Leach of Texas Tech University/Lubbock, Texas, Reagan Leach of The Woodlands, Texas, Corbin Gutierrez of Spring, Texas and Kai Gutierrez of Spring, Texas.

Funeral Services for Mrs.  Edna Smith Anderson will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, from the chapel of the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the service hour of 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
