On Thursday, we covered the Up All Night Thanksgiving meal at the old Cannon Street School building.

Through the work of volunteers at least 700 meals were made.

By the end of lunch, there was a good chance there’d be 800 or more meals.

Around 60 volunteers helped in one way or another, either helping to cook the meal or to deliver boxes to people around Troup County and surrounding cities and neighborhoods.

Thanksgiving is a day that we all cherish. Most get the day off and spend it with family and friends, being thankful for everything in their lives.

It’s a day where it’s difficult to imagine giving up even a few hours, but many in LaGrange did so as a way to give back.

Many volunteers spent a good part of their morning helping less fortunate people, which shows the generosity of this community.

The meal is provided by the community, and it’ll continue as long as the community is able to do so, according to Jimmy Edwards, who helps organize it.

Volunteers cooked 35 turkeys and large pans of sides and dressing. It looked good, and we’re sure it tasted delicious as well.

We want to thank everyone who volunteered Thursday to help others in the community who may not have had a Thanksgiving meal otherwise.
