The Shop Small movement is alive and well in Downtown LaGrange.

Merchants are making plans for the shopping season that begins as soon as the Thanksgiving turkey is all but a memory.

Downtown shops will welcome customers for the nationally advertised event this Saturday,  Nov. 25. Many will offer “Small Breakfast Bites” and canvas shoppers totes to the first shoppers of the day.

“This is the third year that Downtown LaGrange has participated in the nationwide Shop Small campaign. Our downtown is full of great small businesses so it is only natural that we join this promotion that helps shine the spotlight on the importance of independent small businesses across the country,” says Barbie Watts, Director of Promotions and Marketing for Downtown LaGrange Development Authority.

Most shops will be holding Black Friday sales too.

“I encourage everyone to do their holiday shopping in Downtown LaGrange. The shops are full of great gift items and most stores offer complimentary gift wrapping with purchase along with old school customer service,” Watts said.

New this year, as a service to the community, the First United Methodist Church will offer a free gift wrapping service for everyone on December 8  & 9 from 11:00 am to 5 pm.

On December 8 and 9, items purchased anywhere in town may be brought to Chamber of Commerce plaza wrapping station to be wrapped  by the First United Methodist Christmas elves for free.

All wrapping materials, ribbons & bows will be supplied free of charge.
