Jeffrey Scott Doerr

Dr. Jeffrey Scott Doerr, 52, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at West Georgia Hospice.

Dr. Doerr was born June 13, 1965, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Dr. James L. and Kay L. Doerr. Dr. Doerr received an athletic scholarship for football and earned his B.A. degree from Valdosta State University.  He went on to earn a master’s degree of Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh and received his Ph.D from the University of Wales in Aberystwyth, UK. While living in Europe, he was a Visiting Fellow for the European Parliament Directorate-General in Luxembourg. In addition to being the author of a book published by Chatelaine Press, “The Arming of a European Superstate?” Dr. Doerr was an adjunct scholar at the American Defense Institute providing briefings for national security issues for the US Congress and  worked for the Republican National Committee during his time in Washington, DC.

Dr. Doerr was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, Georgia.

Dr. Doerr is survived by his brothers, James L. (Beth) Doerr and Robert W. (Natalie) Doerr; nieces and nephews, Abigail Elizabeth Doerr, Sara Katherine Doerr, Ellen Natalie Doerr, Anna Kay Doerr, Lizbeth Anne Doerr, James Reid Doerr, and John Robert Doerr; aunt, Kay (Gary) Bennett; uncle, Fred (Maren) Lockwood; other relatives and friends.

A private family service will be held at a later date and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Georgia Hospice in memory of Dr. Jeffrey S. Doerr.
