On Monday morning, volunteers delivered poinsettias as a part of WellStar West Georgia’s Hospice Volunteers 28th annual Poinsettia Sale.

The fundraiser pays for the costs of patient’s hospice care such as the cost for medication, supplies and equipment.

The fundraiser also supports a special treat for patients’ birthdays, a last wish fulfilled and support for families. It also funds Camp Dogwood, a camp for children who have lost a loved one.

This year was the biggest in the last decade as more than 2,900 poinsettias were bought.

This is a remarkable accomplishment. It can be stressful taking care of a loved one who is in hospice, especially when it comes to the costs of medical care. This eases part of the financial burden left on families when someone needs long-term care.

Additionally, this fundraiser helps create a Christmas spirit in the Community. The fundraiser raises money for hospice patients, giving hope for those who need it.

Lastly, volunteers who stepped up to deliver the flower shows the closeness of this community. Several volunteers gave up time in their busy schedules to deliver the poinsettias. It’s great that leaders take the time to deliver the plants.

We’re glad WellStar West Georgia Medical Center’s volunteers have continued the tradition of this fundraiser and are sure those in hospice will greatly benefit. We are also thankful for the community for continuing the tradition.
