Dermatology Specialists of Georgia has been operating at its location on Whitesville Road under its current name for over a year now, but on Thursday, the office held a ribbon cutting to celebrate its new Aqua Medical Spa.

The Aqua Medical Spa will feature a variety of treatments like facials, chemical peels and microdermabrasion on top of the other dermatological procedures that were previously offered there.

“I am so excited that it is in Troup County now,” said Avery Barker, an aesthetician. “I love educating new patients on products. I get a little enthusiastic sometimes, educating about products, services. I am excited. I have so many things that I can offer for every and anything that you want done from relaxation to intense skin care. I’ve got you covered.”

Dermatology Specialists has 26 locations in the southeast, but the medical spas are only featured at some of the locations.

“We are so excited that we are the tenth Aqua Medical Spa in the system of your practices (of Dermatology Specialists of Georgia),” Chamber President Page Estes said. “We love being a milestone, but we are so excited to have this now in Troup County.”

The Dermotology Specialists team expressed their excitement to not only be in LaGrange, but to expand as well.

“We are thrilled to be expanding services here in LaGrange,” said Harmony Nagy, director of marketing. “You guys have welcomed us with open arms since we made the move here in the spring, and Dr. (John) Ratz has been a great fit here in the community, and now we are thrilled to have everybody on our team to offer our Aqua Medical services.”

While a dermatology office has been located at that location for years, the name of the office as well as the primary doctor at the office changed last year. Some of the original staff still works at the office though.

“I started with Dermatology Specialists last Oct. 3 when we opened the office in Columbus, and it came as a very quick surprise to me when they asked me to come in to LaGrange when Dr. (Garin) Barth left, but the crew that I had in Columbus who have come with me up here added to the crew that was already here,” Dr. John Ratz said. “We have become a real team.”

Community and chamber members at the ribbon cutting, likewise expressed their excitement.

“I know that LaGrange and Troup County is going to benefit from the best dermatology that they can get in the area,” said Bobby Traylor, a diplomat from the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce.
