John Milford King, of Newnan, peacefully passed away at his home due to congestive heart failure on Dec. 11, 2017.

Mr. King was born in Roopville, Alabama to the late James David King and Annie Eula Ragland King on Sept. 15, 1926.  He was a proud patriot and served his country with honor  in the United States Army during World War II.  Mr. King was one of the first male graduates of LaGrange College.  Mr. King loved his family, and he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In additions to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Cozette King; his brothers, Bernard King (Audrey), Horace King (Novis), and Bobby Lee King (Ladonna); his sisters, Ethel Haynes (Junior), Lovelle Houghton (Armon) and Mary Durrough (Linnie).

Mr. King is survived by his sons, Dr. Kevin L. King Sr. (Joy), Retired Master Sargent Robert Lipham; daughters, Cindy Brooks (Rodney); grandchildren, Daylee Tapia (Walter), Julianna King, Kevin King Jr., Kassie Peterson (Captain Zach), Holly Brooks, Isabella Lipham, Samuel Lipham; great grandchildren, Grady Peterson and Sebastian Tapia; niece Gidget McBurnett (Jeff). Serving as pallbearers are Joey Penal, Richard Starling, Dennis King, Steve Haynes, Mark Mosley, Gary Mosley, Trent Harper and Alan Murray.

The funeral service will be held at Higgins Hillcrest Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at 1 p.m. Dr. Kevin L. King Jr. will officiate the service.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until service time on Thursday.  A committal service will directly follow the funeral and will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.
