Bo Russell and Covan Huzzie each scored 23 points to lead the LaGrange Grangers to a 68-47 home win over the Callaway Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Huzzie, a senior guard, connected on all five of his 3-point attempts, and three of those long-distance shots came in the first quarter as LaGrange built a 17-10 lead.

“I always feel confident after I make the first one,” Huzzie said.

The Grangers were up 36-25 at the half, and they were ahead 50-38 through three quarters.

Russell scored 11 of his points in the fourth quarter to help LaGrange pull away and complete a regular-season sweep of Callaway.

LaGrange (4-2), which beat Callaway 76-43 earlier in the week, has won four consecutive games since opening the season with back-to-back losses to Newnan and Northside.

“We’re doing well,” LaGrange head coach Mark Veal said. “I’m pleased. There are some things we’ve got to work on and do better, and hopefully we will.”

Callaway (0-2) was led by DQ Wilkerson, who scored 12 points and was 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Antinez Blount and Ja’Vontay Boddie each added 10 points for Callaway.

Boddie, a freshman, made three 3-pointers.
