The Troup Lady Tigers used a stingy defensive effort to beat visiting Heard County 39-26 on Tuesday.

Outside of a shaky second quarter when the Lady Tigers (4-2) were limited to five points, head coach Carla Thornton was pleased with the effort.

“Right now, there’s something about the second quarter,” Thornton said. “We don’t play well in the second quarter. Then we wake up in the third quarter, and we played well in the fourth.”

Eight different Troup players scored, including Jedda Madden, who led the way with eight points.

Kiya Fulton, Aundracia Riggins and Amber Gilbert each scored six points.

The Lady Tigers don’t have a dominant scorer, but they’re getting it done with offensive balance.

“They love to play with each other,” Thornton said. “They love to see each other do well. We try to get each other open shots. I’m happy with that.”
