Do your last second shopping locally

If you haven’t completed your Christmas shopping this year, there’s still time. This weekend is the last real shopping weekend before Christmas — unless you really want to wait until the last second.

It’s hard to believe, but Santa Claus is coming to town in nine days. If you’re anything like us, next week will be one of the busiest of the year. Many have family to prepare for, cooking to do, presents to wrap and of course, work to get done.

That’s why this weekend is the one to get your last second shopping done.

We’re sure many of the local shops around town will have sales this weekend, and we encourage anyone still looking for that perfect gift to give them a chance. Driving to Newnan or Atlanta will take a big chunk out of your weekend, and there is plenty to do in LaGrange.

Even if you aren’t shopping, there are family events available around town.

Hills & Dales will hold its annual Children’s Christmas Celebration, which figures to include hundreds of kids.

On Saturday night, there are carriage rides around Lafayette Square from 5 to 9 p.m. Santa Claus will take a break from his busy schedule to take pictures and visit with children at the square from 1 to 4 p.m.

Unlike last weekend, when there was snow on the ground, this Saturday and Sunday figures to be much warmer. Temperatures will be in the high 50s and low 60s both days, so take advantage of it.

Get outside and enjoy LaGrange during the Christmas season. It’ll be over before we know it.
