Scoreboard shouldn’t be priority for school system

I have read in the LaGrange Daily News that 60 percent of third graders fail to read on grade level and that nine of 11 elementary schools perform below the state average. To spend $400,000 for a “giant flatscreen tv” for a high school stadium in such a system seems to reflect poor priorities.

To have the county school system contribute $50,000 to this effort seems, at least to me, an outrageous misordering of what the school system, and it’s funds are meant to accomplish, regardless of what other, similar communities may have at their high school sports stadiums.
