Thomas Matthew “Matt” Jackson, 47, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017. Matt was born in Carrollton, GA on April 21, 1970, the son of Diane Meigs Jackson and the late John Harris Jackson.

He was a 1988 graduate of Carrollton High School, where he played on the Trojan baseball team. After graduating high school he furthered his education and baseball playing at LaGrange College. Matt was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, bird watching, camping, traveling and golfing. He served as Senior Vice President with CharterBank and attended NorthStar Church in Kennesaw where he was eager to volunteer at opportunities at the church. His greatest love was for his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Kim Smith Jackson of Acworth; son, Harris Jackson of Acworth; mother, Diane M. Jackson of Carrollton; sister, Shea Jackson St. John of Carrollton; nieces and nephews, Cole Fendley, Duncan St. John, Camden Smith, Ansley Smith; grandmother, Bernice Jackson; uncle, Terry and Glenda Jackson;  cousin, Tee Jackson; mother-in-law, Barbara Smith; brothers-in-law, Bill and Nancy Smith, Tim and Stacye Smith and many other family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, John Harris Jackson; grandfather, Hilliard Jackson and father-in-law, Floyd Smith. The family will receive friends at the gathering room of Carrollton First United Methodist Church Tuesday, Dec. 19 from noon until 1 p.m.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Carrollton First United Methodist Church with Mike Linch officiating, Shea St. John and P. T. Waldrep giving eulogies.

Pallbearers will be Billy Smith, Tim Smith, Bill Smith, Ben Shelnutt, Tee Jackson, Jeff Skinner, P.T. Waldrep, Todd Burks and Matt Street. Honorary pallbearer will be Shane Sullivan. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
