Downtown Merchants gathered at LaFayette Square last week to present a $1,000 check to Katrina Self of the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Troup County, Inc.

The funds were generated by downtown’s annual Holiday Sip & Shop event and will be used by CASA to purchase Christmas gifts for the children serviced by their agency.

Many CASA volunteers work in downtown businesses and are aware of CASA’s efforts to supply Christmas gifts to children under their care. These local children typically have a parent caught up in the legal system and are under the care of a  guardian or extended family member who recieves no extra financial support to provide for them.  The children do not qualify for other Christmas gift programs within the community.

CASA’s volunteers and the generosity of LaGrange citizens ensure that these children are not forgotten at Christmas time.
