Charlie Fred Whitley Sr.

Mr. Charlie Fred Whitley, Sr., age 87, of LaGrange, passed away on Dec. 20, 2017, at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice. Mr. Whitley was born on May 29, 1930, to the late W.C Whitley and Arizona Dalrymple Whitley in LaGrange. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donell L. Whitley, Clarence W. Whitley and John H. Whitley. Mr, Whitley went to Tatum Elementary and Center High School. He was a Sawmill Superintendent for Trammell Lumber Company for 33 years and then worked as a project engineer for Kleen-Tex. He was a charter member of the LaGrange Team Bass Club and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge where he served as the Governor of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1453 and received the Moose Pilgrim Degree in LOML.

Survivors include his wife of almost 69 years, Ruth Turner Whitley; sons, Freddie Whitley and Mark Whitley (Kristy) all of LaGrange; daughters, Gloria Duniphin and Jenny Ledford (Phillip) all of LaGrange; sister, Mildred Dockery of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at the Baptist Tabernacle with the Rev. Jimmy McMillian and the Rev. Lamar Truitt officiating.
