Bobby Lee Lester

Bobby Lee Lester was born in Newnan, Georgia on Jan. 28, 1941 to the late Mable Askew and Pringle Lester.

On Dec. 21, 2017, God in his infinite wisdom called Bobby Lee Lester home to join his parents and brother, Billy Askew Lester.

He attended Ruth Hill Elementary School, Pinson Street School, Howard Warner School and graduated from Central High School. He began his post-secondary education at Michigan State University. He completed his education at Fort Valley State College graduating with a bachelor’s degree in music.

He was employed as an educator in Troup County and was a band director of the Marching Red Devils at Ethel Kight High School. He later became a radiologist at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia where he continued to work until retirement.

He was an active and beloved member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  He was a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated and a charter member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Xi Chapter in LaGrange, Georgia. He had a special love for music and was a gifted musician with the ability to play numerous instruments.

Bobby Lester is survived by his loving sister, Susie M. Lester, and numerous other relatives and close friends.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 576 Roscoe Road, Newnan, GA  30263. Interment Westview Cemetery, Melson Street, Newnan, GA. Viewing/visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Inc. 182 Millard Farmer Ind. Blvd., Newnan, GA  30263.
