There will be plenty to do this holiday weekend in Troup County, but some local businesses and government offices will be closed for the holiday.

The City of LaGrange will be closed for business on Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. Also, all garbage and recycling pickup in the city will be pushed back by one day. For example, if your regular pickup is Monday, it will be Tuesday during the holiday week.

LaGrange police and fire services will remain open.

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office will be closed for the holiday on Jan. 1, but as always, the deputies will be on call and available by dialing 911.

The Troup County School System offices will remain closed through Jan. 3.

The LaGrange Memorial Library and Hogansville Public Library will be closed on Dec. 30 for New Year’s.

United States Postal Service Post Office locations nationwide will be closed on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31 and on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. All post office locations will be open and resume regular mail delivery on Jan. 2. Blue collection boxes will not be serviced on New Year’s Eve. Regular collections will be made on Saturday, Dec. 30. Mail will not be picked up from collection boxes on New Year’s Day. Normal collection will resume Jan. 2.
