Callaway falls at East Coweta

NEWNAN – East Coweta outscored the Callaway Lady Cavaliers by 10 points in overtime on Saturday to secure a 43-33 victory in a non-region game.

Chyna Cameron led Callaway with 16 points, Haley Holliday added seven points, and Kierra Jackson scored six points.

The game was close throughout.

It was tied 9-9 after the first quarter, Callaway led 15-13 at the half, and it was deadlocked 23-23 through three periods.

Both teams scored six points in the fourth quarter, and the game was tied 29-29 heading to the four-minute overtime period.

East Coweta was able to pull away in overtime as it outscored Callaway 14-4 to win going away.

In the boys’ game, Callaway fell to East Coweta 83-56.

A pair of Callaway’s talented freshmen led the way in scoring.

Demetrius Coleman, who had 20 points the night before against Lamar County, led Callaway with 17 points against East Coweta, and Ja’Vontay Boddie added 13 points.

Callaway’s teams will return to Region 5-AA play on Tuesday with home games against Jordan.
