LFD to flush hydrants throughout city

The LaGrange Fire Department will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the city through Feb. 13.

LFD officers plan to flush hydrants at 72 locations in the City of LaGrange.

The flushing is required to maintain a favorable Insurance Services Office, or ISO, rating.

The City of LaGrange currently has a favorable ISO rating of two.

The rating is based on factors like gallons per minute and pressure.

With a good insurance rating, residents and business in the city receive lower insurance rates.

LaGrange Fire Deputy Chief Willie Bradfield says it’s important to make sure the city retains its two rating.

“It’s very important to flush the hydrants. There aren’t many fire departments around that have a Class 2 rating,” said Bradfield.

“We are asking residents to please be patient with us during this time. We’re doing this to keep insurance rates down.”

LFD is expected to be completed with the hydrant flushing by Feb. 13.
