The Callaway Cavaliers, coming off their first win of the season, were hoping to make it two in a row on Friday against Spencer.

Callaway hung tough the whole way, but it was Spencer holding on late for a 70-65 Region 5-AA win.

Demetrius Coleman led Callaway with 15 points, and Antinez Blount added 10 points.

Kedrick Ramsey and Ja’Vontay Boddie each scored eight points for the Cavaliers.

“I was proud of the guys,” Callaway head coach Terry Hayes said. “They never quit.”

In the girls’ game, Callaway lost to Spencer 43-40.

Chyna Cameron led Callaway with 13 points, and Kierra Jackson added seven points.

It was tied through three quarters, and Spencer outscored Callaway 16-13 in the final period to earn the narrow win.
